Grace’s Mom: “I have really fallen on hard times; my parents are helping us out as much as they can, but they don’t have much to share. I can’t find employment that pays enough for childcare and car costs. Family Service helped with rent when we were being evicted. They also give us the greatest food boxes including meat and milk. Thank you!”
Family Service is able to coordinate several special projects through the generosity provided by our community partners.
Holiday Food Boxes – Each year, hundreds of families receive fixings for Thanksgiving & Christmas meals with all the trimmings! Sign-ups start the month before distribution–mid-October to mid-November.
Adopt-a-Family – At Christmas, area businesses and individuals can sign up to adopt a family. Please Note: Adopted families are not eligible for the Toys for Tots program.
Back-to-School Backpacks – The added cost of school supplies is a burden that’s tough for many families to bear. Family Service provides hundreds of children with backpacks filled with classroom necessities.
Birthday Books – An anonymous donor has contributed funds to help inspire a new generation of readers! Thanks to this generous gift, Family Service provides a brand new book, complete with gift wrap, to children with an upcoming birthday.
Suit Up – We help prepare men to enter the workforce by offering new and gently-used dress suits once a person lines up a job interview. Suits typically include pants, shirt, tie and jacket.
