Volunteer

Volunteers play a very important role in fulfilling our mission to prevent hunger, homelessness, and poverty in Yellowstone County and surrounding areas through community involvement.

Your gift of time helps lift families and seniors to stability!

Family Service is always happy to have individuals or groups help out with day-to-day tasks and special projects.

Normal volunteer hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The schedule for seasonal projects may differ.

The minimum age for volunteering is 14, unless approved in advance by the Executive Director.

Current opportunities:

  • Assemble food boxes for seniors for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program
  • Sorting and organizing in our Donation Drop-off or Thrift Store
  • Packaging bulk foods for distribution in our Client Choice food room
  • Seasonal clerical and special programs (back-to-school, holiday food boxes, food drives, etc.) help

True Story

Christopher and Family

"

Christopher’s Mom: “We moved to Montana a couple of years ago because of the oil boom. No work in the Bakken or Wyoming now, so we are waiting for things to swing up again. Until then, my husband and I have only about 20-25 hours of work each. Family Service makes it possible to afford our rent by providing food for our family.
